New national research into the awareness of UNESCO World Heritage shows that once again the Wadden Sea is the best-known World Heritage Site in the Netherlands.

From 28 to 30 October 2025, more than 200 scientists from Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands gathered in Groningen for the 16th International Scientific Wadden Sea Symposium.

From 28 to 30 October 2025, more than 200 scientists from Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands will gather in Groningen for the 16th International Scientific Wadden Sea Symposium (ISWSS).

Practitioners, scientists, policy-makers, conservation managers and non-governmental organisations are now invited to register for the International Scientific Wadden Sea Symposium and the Wadden Sea Day.

This weekend the doors officially opened to the new Werelderfgoedcentrum Waddenzee (WEC) in Lauwersoog.

The 16th ISWSS will take place from 28 to 30 October 2025 in Groningen, the Netherlands.

Project partners and stakeholders shared updates and insights on activities aimed at reducing light pollution and enhancing technical solutions and monitoring.
